A 5-year-old Medford boy went missing this morning and was reunited with his parents in Somerville, police said this morning.
"It was a happy ending," Somerville Deputy Police Chief Paul Upton said.
The boy is a student at Prospect Hill Academy on Webster Avenue in Somerville and went missing around 8:30 a.m. when he was in the process of being sent home sick from the school, Upton said.
"There appears to have been some confusion on the part of the child," Upton said. "The child was thinking he had to go home on his own, so he left the school right at the beginning of the school day."
Someone found the boy on nearby Medford Street in Somerville and called 911. The boy was evaluated at a medical facility and then reunited with his parents. He was in good condition, but still feeling "a little under the weather" and confused, Upton said.
