Braintree mayor says staff spent weekend digging for Bishop records
Braintree Mayor Joseph Sullivan said today that local officials have worked through the weekend pursuing police records that have gone missing from the 1986 case in which Amy Bishop shot and killed her 18-year-old brother, in what police quickly ruled was an accident.
"We are digging," Sullivan said in a brief telephone interview today. "We’re trying to get together all the information we have. People need to appreciate these are manual records. It’s a long discovery process. We’ve been working all through the weekend.''
"We’re being methodical in our review, gathering as much information as we can as it relates to the 46 Hollis Ave.," Sullivan said, referring to the address of the shooting.
As officials pored through documents, they have learned that Amy Bishop's mother, Judy, was never a member of the town personnel board, according to one official with knowledge of the finding. Some Braintree officials have recently asserted that Judy Bishop was a member of the politically powerful board at the time of the shooting.
