A 25-year-old man was fatally shot early this morning in Fall River, Bristol County prosecutors said.
Jonathan Nieves was shot on Charles Street between Bay and Bowen streets at about 2:30 a.m., District Attorney Samuel Sutter's office said in a statement.
Nieves was pronounced dead after being driven by a friend to a local hospital. A 23-year-old man, driven by the same friend to the hospital, is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Gza Alejandro said her ex-husband, Nieves's younger brother, Jacobo Nieves, was the second victim.
Alejandro said in a telephone interview from Orlando, Fla., that the two brothers, who came to the United States from Puerto Rico about eight years ago, were "good kids, nice kids. They were raised in church."
A family friend said Jonathan Nieves was a truckdriver who had never been in any sort of trouble.
Fall River Police, State Police, and prosecutors are investigating, prosecutors said
