Two Roxbury teenagers were arrested Wednesday and charged with killing a 71-year-old convenience store clerk in Roxbury on Sunday morning.
Martin Freeles, 17, and Onyx White, 16, were arrested after detectives and prosecutors worked around the clock to find the killers, Boston police Commissioner Edward F. Davis said Wednesday night during a press conference at police headquarters.
Geraldo Serrano was shot to death while working the counter at Hermanos Unidos on Dudley Street near Uphams Corner.
Davis and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said Wednesday night that community members collaborated with police. They declined to elaborate.
Both teens were charged with murder, armed robbery, and various weapons charges. They will be tried as adults and are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Roxbury District Court.
