Fire displaces 13 in Dorchester
A two-alarm fire in Dorchester Friday night left nine adults and four children homeless, the Boston Fire Department said.
An electrical short circuit caused the fire just before midnight in a 2 1/2-story apartment building at 12 Stanton St., said department spokesman Steve MacDonald.
The fire, which caused about $200,000 in damage, started in the ceiling of the second-story kitchen and spread to the third floor.
The fire was extinguished in 45 minutes and no injuries were reported, MacDonald said.
The Red Cross is is assisting the displaced residents.
