Two to four inches of the wet stuff are expected to fall across Massachusetts on Monday and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Taunton.
"Unfortunately, that is going to prompt the dreaded F-word," said meteorologist Alan Dunham.
Flooding, of course.
For the third time this month, rivers will likely swell past their banks, especially in the still water-logged areas surrounding the Sudbury and the Assabet, Dunham said.
So far this month, Boston has cowered under 9.94 inches of rain -- just an inch shy of the wettest March in the city's history (11 inches in 1953).
This coming downpour is expected to push this March up in the ranks of the wettest months of all time.
