The MBTA is boasting today that its bus drivers are better than ever when they get behind the wheel of their machines.
"The safety record improved again in 2009, as it had in 2008, with the total number of accidents declining in both years,'' Jim Folk, director of operations and planning, wrote in the posting on the MassDOT website.
According to Folk, MBTA bus drivers averaged 1.3 accidents for every 100,000 miles traveled, a decrease from the 2008 rate of 1.8 crashes per 100,000 miles traveled.
