Police: Man was killed in Plymouth over a beer

A Kingston man killed one man and wounded another in Plymouth early this morning after an argument over a beer, according to court documents.

Police are searching for Richard M. Boucher Jr., 18, of Kingston in connection with the slaying of James Tigges, 23, of Abington. Boucher also allegedly shot Jackson Duncan, 17, who is in critical condition.

Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz said Boucher, who has a criminal record and is on probation, should be considered armed and dangerous. The shooting occurred at 1:14 a.m. outside 7 Cortelli Court.

Plymouth Police Chief Michael E. Botieri said, "This is not a random act of violence, these people knew each other, and we're confident we will have him [Boucher] under arrest in a short amount of time."

In a sworn statement filed in court summarizing the allegations against Boucher, a state trooper said witnesses had told police that Boucher had bragged before the shooting about having a .40-caliber handgun loaded with hollow-tipped bullets.

Witnesses told police that at a gathering at Cortelli Court, Boucher argued with Tigges and Duncan over a beer of Tigges's that Boucher had allegedly stolen from a refrigerator.

The three went outside the residence. Boucher became "agitated" during the argument. Then he pulled a gun and fired multiple rounds, hitting both Tigges and Duncan, the police affidavit said.
