Paul Pierce lends voice to T courtesy campaign

Stand up and give a pregnant woman your seat. That's the message of one of the five ads the T is posting on buses and subway cars.

If only the Orlando Magic would give him such courtesy on the way to the basket. Celtics star Paul Pierce has lent his raspy voice to the MBTA for public address announcements intended to get people to be more polite on buses and trains.

"Hey, T riders, this is 'The Truth,' Paul Pierce of the Boston Celtics, with a few pointers on your game," Pierce, who has been clobbered and hacked by Magic players in the current playoff series, says in the announcement.

"Remember to mind your manners and let others get off the train before you get on. When you see someone who is elderly, disabled or pregnant, don't just sit there, offer them your seat, courtesy counts and that's the truth," Pierce says in the 20-second announcement.

The T says the campaign also includes announcements by General Manager Richard Davey and 1,000 signs on buses and subway cars.

The Celtics are up 2-0 in their series, with a big game scheduled for Saturday at the TD Garden.
