Pedestrian killed in downtown accident

May 12, 2010 01:52 PM

A man in his late 30s was killed when he was struck by a car in Boston early this morning, prosecutors said.

The accident occurred near the intersection of the Albany Street Extension and Herald Street just after midnight, prosecutors said in a statement.

The victim was taken to nearby Tufts Medical Center, where he died of his injuries, according to the office of Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

Preliminary investigation suggests the man was crossing against the light and that the car's speed was not a factor, Conley's office said. The driver hasn't been charged.
