A 17-year-old Chelsea boy has died of injuries he suffered when he was shot Tuesday, Suffolk prosecutors said today.
Roland Polacios, a student at Chelsea High School, died at Massachusetts General Hospital shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Polacios had been shot about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 20 Suffolk St. in Chelsea, District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said in a statement.
Chelsea Police originally were investigating the incident, but State Police will now take the lead since it is a homicide, prosecutors said.
Conley and Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes urged anyone with information on the case to call the Chelsea Police CrimeStoppers tip line at 617-466-4880, to text CHELSEA and a message to TIP411 from a cellphone, or to call the Suffolk State Police Detective Unit at 617-727-8817.
