One ton of marijuana found in Dorchester home

(Suffolk County District Attorney's Office)
In the largest seizure of marijuana in Boston in recent years, about one ton of marijuana was found Wednesday in an apartment on Wilcock Street in Dorchester, the Suffolk district attorney's office said this morning.

Edgar Gonzalez
District attorney's spokesman Jake Wark said that police were executing a warrant at 32 Wilcock early Wednesday morning when a man who apparently lived on the third floor ran from the building and was apprehended.
The door to the third-floor apartment was left open and police, fearing violence or foul play inside, conducted a "protective sweep," he said.
"In the course of that protective sweep, they observed an extraordinarily large quantity of marijuana," he said.
