Authorities ask for public's help in solving I-495 hit-and-run
Authorities are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a hit-and-run on I-495 in Westborough today that left a pedestrian dead.
Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.'s office says the incident occurred in Westborough near Exit 23B, the I-495 interchange with Route 9.
Anyone traveling in that area overnight who may have seen something unusual is asked to call the State Police at (508) 832-9124.
Authorities said it is not clear why the man was on the highway, and that they did not find any disabled vehicle near where he was struck.
According to Early's office and State Police, troopers responded at 5:25 a.m. to investigate a report from a man that he saw a body in the road.
They found a man in his 40s who had apparently been struck by a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Two southbound travel lanes were closed during the morning rush hour. Traffic in all lanes resumed around 10 a.m.
