For one couple, getting stuck in traffic on Route 3 was particularly inconvenient.
Officials rushed a woman who was in labor to the hospital this morning after her husband called for help from their car, State Police Sergeant Matthew Murray said.
The woman's husband pulled their vehicle over in Rockland and called for help at 7:15 a.m., Murray said. State Police and fire officials responded, and the woman was transported to South Shore Hospital, Murray said.
"I think it was a very prudent decision on his part to get public safety officials engaged in assisting his wife," Murray said.
The woman gave birth to a healthy baby sometime around mid-day, he said. No word yet on the gender or name.
In a rush-hour labor two years ago, a couple received a ticket.
