Yarmouth police are investigating a string of stabbings over the past two weeks that have left three men in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 22-year-old Falmouth man was found stabbed in the head at the Yankee Village Motel on Sunday morning after a fire alarm went off in the room in which he was staying, Lieutentant Steven Xiarhos, a police spokesman, said.

The man, who was transported to Cape Cod Hospital, was uncooperative and would not provide any details, Xiarhos said. Xiarhos said police suspect that drugs were involved.

On July 5, a 35-year-old homeless man entered the Cape Cod Hospital emergency room in the early morning with stab wounds on his right arm and torso, Xiarhos said. Hospital staff reported the man to police, but the man was also uncooperative and would not provide any details, Xiarhos said.

The day before, a 20-year-old North Easton man leaving the Fourth of July fireworks was stabbed in the stomach after he and his friend got into a brawl with a passing motorist, Xiarhos said. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital and treated, Xiarhos said.

None of the incidents appear to be related, Xiarhos said. No arrests have been made, but police have several leads on the July 4 stabbing, he said.

"We are a very busy town," Xiarhos said. "There are thousands of people. We do have our share of situations like anyone else, but to have three in a two-week period, that is unusual."
