Video: Shock, sadness following Deluca's fire
Max Esposito, a recent Boston University graduate, came upon the aftermath of Thursday's fire at Deluca's Market, the landmark Beacon Hill grocery store. Armed with his video camera, Esposito captured the scene and contributed the video to the Globe. Here is what he was thinking:
"I arrived at Charles Street long after the fire had started, the firefighters were finishing up hosing down the remnants of the DeLuca's Market basement. As a recent journalism graduate, I thought I had missed the story, but when I looked around and saw so many distraught faces I realized the story here, in my opinion, was not the fire itself, but the impact on the community. This video is my representation of that impact. Also, I felt it appropriate to omit sound clips, as so many people appeared speechless. ''
