A three-month investigation by a team of 20 law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of 47 alleged gang members and public safety threats throughout New England, including more than a dozen from Massachusetts, officials announced today.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement investigations led the anti-gang surge, arresting 28 known gang members from the Bloods, Latin Kings, and MS 13, to name a few, according to officials. The people arrested have been involved in violent crimes such as attempted murder and assault to rape.
“These guys are the worst of the worst,” said Harold Ort, spokesman for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. “I cross the street when I see these guys.”
Of the 47 people arrested, 23 are not US citizens and face deportation.
