An East Boston man wanted for allegedly killing a 29-year-old Chelsea man was arrested today in Georgia.

Jonathan Carvalho, 20, allegedly approached Luis Raul Rodriguez on Central Avenue in Chelsea on Tuesday afternoon and shot him multiple times in the chest, prosecutors said.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead a short time later at Massachusetts General Hospital, said Chelsea Police Captain Keith Houghton.

Carvalho will face rendition proceedings to bring him back Massachusetts so that he can be arraigned in Chelsea District Court for murder, according to a statement released by Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office.

Police said that the two men knew each other, and the shooting did not appear to be a random act of violence.
