Rehoboth couple finds dead goat on front lawn

A Rehoboth couple is “shaken and concerned” after discovering a mutilated, dead goat on the front lawn this morning, police said.
A neighbor alerted the Summer Street homeowners around 8 a.m. to the animal, Rehoboth Police Chief Stephen Enos said. The goat, which was disemboweled with a rope around its neck, had most likely been dumped in the couple’s front lawn sometime before 5:30 a.m., he said.
“It’s a serious offense,” Enos said. “It’s obvious that somebody who does that doesn’t have much regard for any type of life.”
Rehoboth police are collaborating with the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on the investigation. Whoever is responsible could face an array of charges, including felony animal cruelty charges, Enos said.
