It was only one snake, it was a train not a plane, and Samuel L. Jackson was nowhere in sight.

But a Green Line train was stopped for a short time early this afternoon in Brookline after uncomfortable riders reported a man carrying a snake around his neck, an MBTA spokesman said.

Police responded to the D Line around 12:30 p.m. at Brookline Village station, but the man had already left the area, spokesman Joe Pesaturo said.

Police held the train for about nine minutes, slightly backing up D Line service, until shortly before 1 p.m., he said.

MBTA animal policy does not specifically address snakes, but does state that small domestic pets must be secured in an animal carrier and must not annoy other passengers.
