For the second consecutive day, FBI agents and State Police divers searched Buckmaster Pond in Westwood today as part of a federal investigation, according to authorities.
Damon Katz, an FBI agent and spokesman for the bureau in Boston, confirmed the search but declined to provide details.
"I'm not at liberty to say what we're searching for or why," he said.
A law enforcement source familiar with the search said FBI agents from Miami were overseeing the operation and that it stemmed from a federal investigation in Florida.
But Judy Orihuela, an FBI agent and spokeswoman for the bureau's Miami office, said that office merely loaned divers for the search. "It's a Boston matter," she said.
Buckmaster Pond is one of Westwood's most bucolic spots and is popular with fishing enthusiasts.
