The remains of a human leg were found yesterday on a beach in Nantucket, police said.
Nantucket police said in a statement that officers responded at 4:20 p.m. to the beach on the western side of Great Point, in an area known as Chord of the Bay, where they recovered the skeletal remains of the lower portion of a left leg. A sock and a boot were still attached to the foot, police said.
The remains were turned over today to State Police detectives for transport to the medical examiner's office for further investigation and identification, police said.
