Brockton reclaims Santa hat record
BROCKTON -- They came by the hundreds, bundled in jackets and mittens and mostly importantly, hats.
By 1 p.m., their mission was accomplished. Eight-hundred seventy-two Santa hat wearers had been counted -- by no less than the mayor, the chief of police and a CPA - enabling Brockton to snatch back from an Irish competitor the world title of most Santa-hat wearers in one place at one time.
"Awesome!" shouted Lawrence Badger, 34, of Brockton, whose tasseled hat bobbed as he jumped in excitement. "I wouldn't trade Brockton for all the pints in Ireland."
