One killed in rollover on Route 128 in Needham
A single-vehicle rollover on Route 128 southbound in Needham this afternoon resulted in one fatality, State Police said.
A 1997 Ford Explorer traveling southbound in the left lane veered to the right at about 4 p.m., striking a guardrail, rolling over, and ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, State Police said. The driver, Matthew M. Cox, 33, of Westwood, was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess-Glover Hospital in Needham, where he was declared dead, according to State Police.
The crash took place near Exit 19, shutting down two southbound lanes of rush hour traffic, said State Police spokesman Sergeant Michael Popovics. All lanes were reopened at about 7 p.m.
