Pedestrian killed outside Andover barracks, driver faces OUI charges
A 30-year-old Bradford woman was killed this afternoon after being struck by a drunk driver outside a Massachusetts State Police barracks in Andover, said spokesman David Procopio.
State police said in a statement that the woman was struck by a pickup truck on Route 125 just after 3 p.m.
The woman was walking back to her car after she had entered the barracks to obtain a report from an earlier crash, the statement said.
Robert V. Bryant, 50, of Bradford, was arrested near the barracks and will be charged with motor vehicle homicide, as well as operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene of a crash that caused personal injury, police said.
He was being held on $50,000 cash bail pending his arraignment at Lawrence District Court tomorrow morning, Procopio said. The woman's name has not been released.
