Trooper injured in Fall River highway accident
A state trooper suffered minor injuries this morning when he was hit by a car on a highway in Fall River, State Police said.
Trooper Christopher Kaszyk was hit at the area where Route 79 merges onto Route 24, said Sergeant Matthew Murray, a State Police spokesman.
Kaszyk was outside of his car, assisting with a previous one-car accident. He was hit at 6:28 a.m. as a driver attempted to merge from Route 79 onto Route 24, Murray said. After hitting the trooper, the car continued on to hit the car that the trooper had originally stopped to assist, he said.
"It went from a one-car accident to a two-car accident with personal injury," said Murray.
Kaszyk was taken by ambulance to Charlton Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, Murray said.
No charges have been filed. State Police are investigating the accident, he said.
