Former governor candidate Baker to moderate health care discussion
Former Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Baker will be back in the spotlight at a public event again at a March event held by the Pioneer Institute, a conservative think tank.
Baker is expected to moderate a discussion on the budgetary impact of the new federal health reform law.
The Hewitt Health Care lecture is slated for March 9 at the Harvard Medical School.
Baker, a former health insurance executive and a top official in Republican state administrations, lost to Democratic Governor Deval Patrick in the November election.
The other speakers at the event include Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who is president of a conservative think tank, and Jonathan Gruber, an economics professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Both have held high government posts. Holtz-Eakin also advised John McCain's presidential campaign, while Gruber advised the Clinton, Edwards, and Obama campaigns.
