By Emma Stickgold, Globe Correspondent
An MBTA bus driver was suspended after allegedly throwing coffee into a passing vehicle in Lynn this afternoon, according to an MBTA spokeswoman.
The bus was pulling out of a bus stop when it was allegedly cut off by a pick-up truck at Boston and Chestnut streets in Lynn around 1:30 p.m. The truck driver and the bus driver exchanged heated words..
The bus driver then allegedly threw a cup of coffee into the truck, striking a passenger. The truck driver reported the incident to police, and the bus driver was instructed to pull over at Peabody Square, according to MBTA spokeswoman Lydia Rivera.
The bus driver, whose name was not released, has been suspended, and faces a court summons.
