26 arrested in gun, drug probe in Brockton area

Twenty-six people were arrested today in a lengthy investigation into weapons dealing and narcotics trafficking in the Brockton area, authorities said. The suspects are facing charges in state and federal court.
Their alleged crimes were captured on undercover recordings beginning in May of last year, according to a statement from the office of US Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz.
Six other people, who were already in custody or are still at large, are also facing charges, the US attorney's office said.
The suspects facing charges in federal court live in Brockton, Revere, and Stoughton and range in age from 18 to 41, according to the statement. They are being charged with a several offenses including dealing in firearms without a license and possession with intent to distribute cocaine base.
The defendants charged in state court all live in Brockton and are charged with similar offenses, Ortiz's office said. They range in age from 18 to 46, the statement said.
