A 63-year-old North Reading woman was cited for negligent operation today after she stepped on the gas pedal and propelled her 2007 Ford Explorer into other vehicles stopped at Terminal C at Logan Airport today.
The woman was identified by State Police as Carol Guthrie. According to State Police and Logan Airport spokesman Phil Orlandella, Guthrie was on the upper level of Terminal C when she slammed into a handful of vehicles around 6:35 a.m.
Orlandella said the woman had stopped at the AirTran section of the terminal.
According to State Police, the preliminary investigation found that Guthrie mistook her gas pedal for her brake pedal. When she pressed the accelerator, the SUV slammed into five vehicles before coming to a stop, according to State Police.
Three people were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with minor injuries, according to the Boston Emergency Medical Services.
