Civil War historian from Yale to speak at NY event
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Historian and award-winning author David Blight is the featured speaker at a history conference being held in Albany.
Blight is a professor of American history at Yale University and the author of numerous works, including two highly regarded books on race and the Civil War.
He’s the featured speaker Thursday night at the Researching New York Conference being held at the University at Albany.
Blight is considered one of the nation’s foremost authorities on the Civil War. During his talk, he'll focus on the reasons why the war still has such a strong hold on the nation’s historical memory.
The conference is also sponsored by the University at Albany’s History Department, New York State Archives Partnership Trust, the State Museum and the New York State Writers Institute.
