Mortgage counseling to offered in Waterbury

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) — The state of Connecticut is offering its latest event for struggling homeowners who need help with loan modifications, foreclosure prevention and other issues with their lenders.

This is the fourth free forum sponsored by the Department of Banking together with the governor and attorney general’s office. It will be held Wednesday at the Conference Center at CoCo Key in Waterbury, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Representatives from various mortgage lenders and loan servicing companies are scheduled attend. They include officials from Bank of America, CitiMortgage, Fannie Mae, GMAC Mortgage and others.

Housing counseling agencies, the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, Judicial Branch mediation and other state and nonprofit agencies will be on hand as well.
