BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Two Bridgeport police officers are recovering from injuries that police say were caused by a fleeing suspect who struck their cruiser.
Officer Roderick Doda, a 10-year veteran with the department, suffered head and neck injuries. Officer Eric Schneider, who has been with the department for 20 months, suffered a head laceration and other injuries.
Police said 18-year-old Josue Jimenez of Bridgeport was driving the car that struck the police cruiser. Police say his face and right leg were injured.
His passenger, Antonio Lostaunau, also of Bridgeport, suffered injuries to his left leg. Police say he tried to flee the scene and lunged at officers and was issued a misdemeanor summons for interfering with police and failure to wear a seatbelt.
It was not known Thursday morning if they are represented by lawyers.
