NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — New Haven police say they've charged a 17-year-old boy in the fatal shooting of a man found wounded at a doughnut shop.
Officers say they executed a search warrant at the boy’s home at about 4 a.m. Thursday and took him into custody. Police say they found a gun in the home.
The teen’s name was withheld because of juvenile offender laws.
Police were called to a Dunkin Donuts store shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and found 29-year-old Lonni Star suffering from a gunshot wound. He later died at a hospital. Police believe he was shot at another location and driven to the store by a woman who called 911 for help.
Star was New Haven’s second homicide victim in two days, and the second homicide victim of the year.
