MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — Milford police say a local man has died after he and three family members were hit by a car on a street where the sidewalks hadn’t been cleared of snow after the blizzard.

Police say 53-year-old Kevin Tanski died Tuesday afternoon at Bridgeport Hospital. His wife, 51-year-old Brenda Tanski, remains in critical condition at the same hospital.

Their 21-year-old daughter, Jenny Tanski, suffered minor injuries. A fourth relative wasn’t hurt.

Authorities say the family members were struck by a car Monday morning while walking on the shoulder of Bridgeport Avenue. Police say they were walking the same way as the traffic and not against it as recommended.
