Investigation after man shot 3 times in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Police are investigating whether a party at a New Haven hotel led to the shooting of a young man who now in hospital with gunshot wounds in the shoulder, leg and upper arm.

Police have detained several people who were at the party and are questioning them.

An officer patrolling Whalley Avenue just after midnight Saturday heard several gunshots after he reached East Ramsdell Street. He stopped and located the victim in a 7-Eleven parking lot.

The man was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he is being treated. Police say he is conscious and alert, but in surgery.

Police say detectives are investigating the possibility the shooting followed a party at an area hotel.

Investigators are did not immediately name the victim, saying they are trying to confirm his age.end of story marker
