New Conn. resident fleeing Sandy injured on job

NEW MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — A New Fairfield official helping New Yorkers move to Connecticut after their homes were destroyed by Superstorm Sandy says one relocated man suffered severe injuries at a local masonry company.
New Fairfield’s first selectman John Hodge says Scott Ackerman lost several fingers in a workplace accident Tuesday at New Milford Block and Supply Corp.
He did not have specific information about the accident.
A company representative did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
Hodge said Ackerman and his wife were among 15 families affected by Sandy that relocated to Connecticut in early January.
Ackerman is hospitalized.
Hodge has been involved in the relocation efforts in his work with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which honors New York firefighters killed on 9/11. The Foundation is helping victims of Sandy.
