WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (AP) — Workers at the reorganized aerospace business of United Technologies Corp. have overwhelmingly ratified a three-year contract that raises pay and pensions and boosts health insurance payments.
Members of Machinists Local 743 at UTC Aerospace Systems in Windsor Locks voted 583-16 on Sunday to approve the contract.
Union Local President Tony Walter said union members won an annual 2.5 percent raise and a $2,000 signing bonus. Pensions will be increased by $7 per month for each year of service and employee contributions to health insurance coverage will increase by as much as $12 a week. He says union officials and members are ecstatic with the new agreement.
UTC spokeswoman Judy DiScipio says company and union negotiators worked hard to reach an agreement they found acceptable.
