DANIELSON, Conn. (AP) — A 29-year-old Willimantic man has been arraigned in the death of a 3-year-old girl.
Prosecutors have charged Carroll Bumgarner-Ramos with assault and risk of injury, but say more serious charges are likely to be filed after an autopsy report on the girl is complete.
The child was brought to Windham Hospital last Thursday. Prosecutors say she had multiple bruises, bite marks, internal injuries and trauma to her genitals.
Windham County State’s Attorney Patricia Froehlich argued successfully for a $1 million bond Monday, saying the evidence suggests the girl suffered ‘‘indescribable autrocities.’’
Bumgarner-Ramos, who police say lived with the child and her mother and was babysitting the girl on Thursday, is due back in court on July 19.
