HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — The longtime manager of the newsstand inside Connecticut’s Legislative Office Building is facing a misdemeanor sexual assault charge.
State Capitol Police said it stems from an alleged incident on the Capitol campus.
Daniel Esten of Bristol turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday. An arrest warrant issued by Hartford Superior Court charged the 67-year-old Esten with fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree breach of peace.
Police said the changes stemmed from ‘‘a complaint involving inappropriate contact with an individual by Esten while on the Capitol campus.’’ No further information was released.
Esten declined to discuss the charges but said he’s currently on a leave of absence and is planning to retire.
A message was left seeking comment with the Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind, which oversees the newsstand.
