NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — New Haven police say a city man was shot in the head during a rowdy New Year’s Eve party at a local hotel.
Police say the shooting occurred before 3 a.m. at the La Quinta Inn on Sergeant Drive.
They say the seventh and eighth floors of the hotel had been rented out for the party, and they were called to respond to numerous fights in the building.
Police spokesman David Hartman says officers found a chaotic scene with ‘‘dozens of disorderly patrons.’’
He says 20-year-old Lloyd Streeter Jr. was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the rear of the building.
He was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital and was in critical condition.
Police were still interviewing hotel guests Wednesday and had not made any arrests.
