A 74-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenager at a funeral home during a wake, Stratford police said. The Connecticut Post reported that Robert J. Purcell of Fairfield was charged with second-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault, and public indecency. Purcell, who surrendered Monday, was released on $100,000 bond. Police said the 15-year-old, who has autism, had been attending his grandmother’s wake at Pistey Funeral Home April 9, 2012; the alleged assault occurred in the bathroom. Purcell was arraigned in Superior Court on charges of sexually assaulting the same teen in Purcell’s home. He pleaded not guilty to first-degree sexual assault and impairing the morals of a minor.
