Driver questioned in Kissel killing fired from job, attorney says

GREENWICH, Conn. --The driver of a slain millionaire developer who has been heavily scrutinized by police has also lost his job, his attorney said Friday.

Carlos Trujillo was fired recently from his job at Stamford Tent Co., attorney Lindy Urso said Friday.

"I think it's a testament to the fact that the presumption of innocence really only exists on paper in this country," Urso said.

Stephen Frost, the company's owner, declined to comment.

Trujillo, driver and personal assistant to slain millionaire Andrew Kissel, denies any involvement in the killing.

Kissel was found bound and fatally stabbed on April 3 in his Greenwich home, just a few days before he was scheduled to plead guilty in federal court in a multimillion-dollar real estate fraud case.

Police have said there was no sign of forced entry into the home, but have refused to discuss a possible motive or suspects. No one has been charged in Kissel's death.

Trujillo has been interviewed several times by police and has given authorities DNA, fingerprints and personal documents, Urso has said. The driver also took a lie detector test.

Authorities also searched Trujillo's storage bin.

Andrew Kissel was the brother of Robert Kissel, who died three years ago in Hong Kong when his wife fed him a strawberry milkshake laced with poison and bludgeoned him to death with a statue.
