Woman gets nearly 4 years in prison for role in prostitution ring
HARTFORD, Conn.—Federal prosecutors say a 25-year-old East Hartford woman has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for her role in a prostitution ring.
Shanaya Hicks was sentenced in federal court in Hartford Tuesday to 46 months in prison for her involvement in a sex trafficking operation that victimized minors and young women and forced them to commit sex acts against their will.
Hicks pleaded guilty last year to one count of conspiracy to use an interstate facility to promote prostitution, two counts of sex trafficking of a minor, and two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.
Hicks has been incarcerated since September 18, 2006, when her bond was revoked.![]()
