NEW HAVEN, Conn.—Federal agents have arrested a former executive for the Indian tribe that runs Foxwoods Resort Casino on allegations he defrauded investors out of more than $500,000 in a bogus real estate deal.
FBI agents charged 48-year-old Christopher Pearson of Ledyard with wire fraud Tuesday. He posted a $200,000 bond after appearing in New Haven federal court.
Pearson is a former deputy chief operating officer for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, which operates the casino near Ledyard.
He is accused of telling a number of investors that he would buy property in Honduras on their behalf, and that Foxwoods would ultimately use the land for a casino project.
Federal prosecutors say the tribe had no such plans, and Pearson spent the investors' money on large and small purchases for himself.
Pearson's home telephone number is not listed. It's not clear if he has hired a lawyer.![]()
