Teen struck and killed

WEST HAVEN, Conn.—West Haven police have released the name of the 14-year-old boy killed when his bicycle was involved in a collision on a city street.

Police say Ralph Russo was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle while riding his bicycle through a busy intersection Monday afternoon.

The accident happened at the intersection of Captain Thomas Boulevard and Campbell Avenue just before 4 p.m. Monday. Police say the boy and his friend were riding their bikes when they crossed in front of oncoming traffic.

The driver remained at the scene and police say the driver is not facing any charges.

Police say the boy was a student at Bailey Middle School. Crisis and grief counselors are at the school.
