HARTFORD, Conn.—State election officials say they have randomly selected 82 voting precincts for an election result audit.

Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz (BYE'-suh-witts) says the 82 precincts represent about one-third of the polling places statewide.

State law requires a hand audit of 10 percent of all polling places in all elections and primaries, excluding precincts already part of hand recounts.

The number was boosted to one-third this election because of the lower number of polling districts involved in the Aug. 12 primaries and the high turnout expected for the November general election.
