Southbury couple charged with embezzlement plot

SOUTHBURY, Conn.—Southbury police have arrested a husband and wife, accusing them of a plot to embezzle $250,000 from a mortgage company where they worked.

Paula and Ray Borsari Junior were arrested Thursday, accused of conspiracy to embezzle from Northeast Mortgage Corporation in Southbury.

Police say 43-year-old Paula Borsari worked as controller for the company and her husband, who is also 43, was telemarketing manager.

Police say that between Jan. 26, 2000, and May 4, 2006, the Borsaris conspired to embezzle from the mortgage company. Police have not released any other details.

The Borsaris both are charged with conspiracy at first-degree larceny and first­degree larceny. Paula Borsari also is charged with 225 counts of forgery.

Both have been released on bond.
