MONROE, Conn. - The family of a Connecticut native who was killed in combat in Iraq last week has scheduled his funeral for Thursday in Monroe.

Army First Lieutenant Thomas Brown died Sept. 23 after his patrol came under small-arms fire about 60 miles north of Baghdad. Brown grew up in Shelton, Conn., and had been living in Burke, Va.

Brown will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia on Dec. 11.

The funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Church in Monroe. The family will hold a wake tomorrow from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home in Shelton.

Brown was the 41st member of the military from Connecticut to die in Iraq or Afghanistan since the wars began.
