PROVIDENCE R.I.—Police have identified a suspect in the weekend slaying of a Providence woman.
Police in Clinton, Conn. arrested 18-year-old Travis Garcia after he was seen on Sunday driving a car belonging to 32-year-old Jeannine Garcia.
After Travis Garcia crashed the car, police made a well-being check on Jeannine Garcia and found her dead in her apartment at about 4 a.m. Sunday.
The victim's mother says her daughter and the suspect are not related. She says they were friends, but Travis Garcia wanted a more serious relationship.
Rhode Island officials say they will work on extraditing Travis Garcia to Rhode Island where he faces a murder charge.
